Adding height and privacy with made-to-measure trellis

Adding privacy above a fence, screening a heat pump or lifting a plain courtyard usually starts with the search for trellis that actually fits. Standard panel sizes rarely suit a real fence line, with its corners, raked top rails and sloping ground.
Cheap flat-pack lattice tends to warp, sag and snap at the joints, so the job ends up being paid for twice. Every panel we make is built to your measurements on our own machines in Wairau Valley, in diamond or square lattice, with your choice of lath width and spacing.
Premium timber, stainless steel staples and frames matched to the span keep panels square and true. To talk through sizes and pricing, request a free quote, or visit the workshop to see samples.

Trellis Overview:

Trellis panels North Shore wide are made to measure for garden screening, fence toppers and timber privacy screens.
  • Diamond or square lattice, with lath width and gap spacing chosen to suit timber privacy screens
  • Tapered, stepped and non-rectangular panels for sloping or out-of-square boundaries
  • Fence toppers measured bay by bay, plus freestanding garden screening for bins and pumps
  • Frames matched to the span, keeping wide trellis fencing panels square rather than sagging
  • Framing and finishing carried out under cover, so wet weather doesn't stall production
  • Existing panels remade, or new made to measure trellis matched to current fencing

Trellis panels built to suit your fence and your garden

  • Panels measured and built to your opening, not standard sizes
  • Premium timber and stainless steel staples in every panel
  • Tapered, stepped and non-rectangular panels suit awkward spaces
Trellis panels North Shore, Auckland and surrounding areas from our Glenfield showroom.

Built in our own workshop to suit your measurements and preferences

Every panel is made at our Wairau workshop, not bought in flat-pack. We choose the timber grade, lath spacing and finish, making awkward work possible: curves, patterns, or matching existing trellis.
On-site measurements allow tapered, stepped or non-rectangular panels for sloping ground or raked top rails. Lath width and gap spacing shift the balance between privacy and light. Frames match the span, keeping larger panels square. Panels can sit above existing timber fencing.
Indoor building means wet weather won't stall orders; panels arrive ready to fix. Made-to-measure still competes on price. Samples and collection at the workshop. The same machinery used for trellis builds our custom timber gates.

Garden screening, fence toppers and timber privacy screens

Trellis is often the answer where a solid fence would feel heavy and closed in. Toppers lift boundary height and restore privacy from overlooking neighbours, while wind and light still pass through, which puts less load on the posts than solid boards.
Freestanding timber privacy screens tuck bins, heat pumps, pool pumps and washing lines out of sight, or divide a larger section into separate outdoor areas.
Where trellis fencing runs full height, the spacing, timber and finish stay consistent across the whole job because it all comes from one workshop, including the trellis-style infill used in timber balustrades.

Premium timber, stainless staples and long-lasting panels

Lattice fails where moisture is trapped, so panel life comes down to timber, fixings and coating rather than appearance. Premium timber and stainless steel staples go into every screen, and stainless fittings are standard on coastal jobs, where salt air attacks plated hardware.
Coating both faces, including cut ends, before or soon after installation makes the biggest difference, because cut ends absorb moisture fastest. After that, keeping soil and foliage clear of the bottom rail and recoating every few years keeps the laths straight.
Materials and workmanship meet New Zealand standards, and the same timber and fixings go into our timber archways and pergolas.

Frequently asked questions for Trellis

Premium timber stays straight through handling and installation, and stainless steel staples hold the lattice together without rust staining. Lattice rots first where moisture is trapped, so material and detailing decide panel life. Our materials and workmanship meet New Zealand standards.

Yes. Stainless hardware is standard on coastal jobs, where salt air attacks plain fixings. The same timber and fixings go into our timber archways.

Coating both faces, including the cut ends, before or soon after installation makes a marked difference. Keeping soil, mulch and foliage clear of the bottom rail also helps, because trapped moisture is what starts the rot.

Yes. New trellis can be matched to existing panels, or a single panel remade, because timber grade, lath spacing and finish are all decided in our own workshop rather than set by an importer.

Yes. Visit the workshop at 95B Wairau Road, Wairau Valley to look at samples, timber and hardware, then talk through sizes and pricing for your opening.
