Add an archway that lifts your entrance, path or garden gateway

An archway over a front gate, a path or a garden entrance changes how the whole property reads from the street. Flat-pack kits come in one size, and real openings rarely match it: widths differ, the ground falls away across the entrance, and the fences on either side sit at their own heights.
Squeezed into that gap, a kit looks awkward and often sits too low for a mower or a wheelbarrow. Instead, every archway is measured on site, with post sizes scaled to the span and head clearance set around how the entrance is actually used.

Archways Overview:

Lifestyle Fences designs, builds and installs made-to-measure garden arches and timber archway structures at residential and commercial entrances across Auckland.
  • Curved and shaped sections cut on our own machines
  • Post size and concrete depth matched to height and exposure
  • Stainless steel fixings on coastal sites; timber weathered, stained or painted
  • Cap details and rail spacing taken off adjoining paling, shiplap or picket fencing
  • Timber archway and gate built as one unit with matched drop bolts
  • Workshop-built components shorten site time; gates hung once concrete cures

Garden arches for homes and businesses across Auckland and surrounding areas, from our Wairau Valley showroom

Styles measured to your opening and matched to your fence

The site measure comes first: opening width, ground levels, fence heights either side and any fall across the entrance. Flat-top, curved-top, trellis-sided and pergola-style openings are all made, with post sizes scaled to the span.
Curves and shaped sections are cut on our machines at the Wairau Valley workshop.
Most archways join an existing fence line, so post dimensions, timber profile and rail spacing are recorded during the measure, then reproduced in the workshop, matching rather than approximating.

decks and pergolas page.

Framing, timber and fixings that carry the load

Garden arches carry far more than their own weight. Wind pushes hard against an open frame, and a wisteria or climbing rose adds real load once established, so in-ground posts are H4 treated and concreted to a depth suited to the height of the archway and how exposed the site is.
Above-ground framing and decorative work use H3.2, which protects the timber from decay where it is exposed to the weather but not in ground contact.. Pre-fitting the joinery in the workshop keeps the frame square when it is assembled on site. On coastal and beachfront jobs, stainless steel fixings and hardware are standard, the same specification we use for our coastal timber fencing.
Workmanship and materials comply with New Zealand standards.

From free quote to installation

All components are made in our workshop and installed on site, so most archways go up in a single visit; the concrete around the posts cures before a gate is hung. Working under cover also means wet weather rarely holds up progress.
Calls and quotes are free, and enquiries are answered within one business day. You can upload photos of your entrance with your enquiry, or simply quote the design number from the gallery.
Visitors are welcome at our Wairau Valley workshop, Monday to Friday, to see the timber, hardware and trellis panels first-hand. Any council consent required is arranged by the property owner.

Frequently asked questions for Archways

Both. Flat-top, curved-top, vertical bar, trellis-sided and pergola-style archways are all made to measure, with curved and shaped sections cut on our own machines in the Wairau Valley workshop.

Yes. Post dimensions, cap details, timber profile and rail spacing are taken off the adjoining shiplap, paling, picket or screen fencing so the entrance reads as one piece of work.

Where the entrance also takes a pedestrian or driveway gate, both can be built as a single unit, with hardware and drop bolts matched across the archway and gate.

Browse the gallery and quote the photo number when you call or send the contact form. Attaching photos of your entrance helps too, and you'll usually hear back within one business day.

Yes. The Wairau Valley workshop on the North Shore is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, and weekends by appointment, so you can handle samples, hardware and finished trellis panels.
