Custom timber sheds built to suit your garden and storage needs

Storage usually runs out long before the garden does: the mower, the bikes, bags of potting mix. Often the only space left is a narrow gap beside the house or an awkward back corner, where a fixed-size kit won't fit and a pre-assembled shed won't come through the gate, so tools end up sitting out in the weather or taking over the garage.
A custom timber shed is drawn around the space you actually have, with door position, width and internal height set by what needs to go inside.
Panels are made in our Wairau Valley workshop, carried in through whatever access you have and assembled where the shed will stand.

Planning the size, layout and cost of your shed

There are no fixed sizes. Dimensions are taken from on-site measurements, with common footprints running from 1.2 x 1.5 metres up to 3.0 x 3.3 metres, and anything outside that range built to order.

Door position and width are determined by what needs to go in, since a ride-on mower or loaded wheelbarrow requires a wider opening than hand tools. Sheds sit on floor bearers and are priced for a level site; sloping ground adds $200 to $600.

Any council approval is arranged by you. Where a bank needs holding back first, timber
retaining walls are quoted separately.

Shed builders working from panels made in our workshop

Walls are prefabricated as ply and batten panels on our own machinery, so wet weather doesn't stall progress and parts arrive square. On site, we confirm the base first - piles, timber bearers or an existing concrete pad - then the shed goes up where it will stand, usually two to three weeks from order.
Sections carry through side gates and down narrow paths, turning an awkward back corner into a workable site. We don't handle council consent, so any approval needed is arranged by you. A kitset option with sections and instructions is available.
The same machinery builds our custom gates.

Waterproof lining and colour steel roofing keep contents dry

White building fabric is fitted inside as standard, a moisture barrier against condensation and wind-driven rain - the usual reason sheds turn damp and musty and tools rust.
Colour steel roofing is standard, with overhang and door detailing designed to throw water clear of wall junctions rather than down them. Premium timber is used throughout, the door is lockable, and stainless steel fixings are standard on coastal sites.
You're welcome to visit the Wairau Valley workshop, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, to see timber, hardware and samples. Materials and workmanship comply with New Zealand standards, as on our timber fencing.
