A timber boundary fence built for privacy, security and street appeal

Most fencing projects come down to the same aims: screening the neighbours, keeping children and pets in, and lifting the look of the street front.
Lifestyle Fences has been building timber boundary fences on site since 1990: paling, picket, or our own shiplap and screen designs, measured up and stepped or raked to suit your slope so gaps stay even and the top line stays clean.

Choosing between paling, shiplap, screen and picket fences

Style is a practical decision before a visual one, which is why the fence at the back of a garden rarely suits the front. Long boundary runs usually call for paling fences: robust, and quick to cover distance.
On road-facing boundaries, shiplap, screen and picket fences mark the line without shutting out light. Shiplap uses overlapping boards for full privacy and a solid panel face, and it is our most requested design.

Screen fencing gives you height with filtered privacy, and a solid lower section can be topped with made-to-measure
trellis from the same workshop.

Built on site, pre-made in our Wairau Valley workshop

No boundary is ever perfectly straight, level and square. The ground kinks around trees, steps down to the street and falls away, so every fence is set out, cut and fixed on site, not assembled from stock panels.
Panels and components are made up in our workshop at 95B Wairau Road, so site days are largely assembly, and wet Auckland weather doesn't stall fabrication. Timber, hardware and finished panels can be viewed there.
Pre-made panels to your specifications, supplied with instructions, are also available if you'd rather install them yourself.

Fences can be finished with matching
custom gates and hardware, measured on site at the same time.

Pool fencing designed around safety and appearance

A pool fence is a safety barrier first, so requirements shape the design long before appearance enters the conversation. Barrier height, gap dimensions and the non-climbable zone govern board spacing and layout, and rails are placed so they don't create footholds.
That's why a pool fence is framed differently from a boundary fence. Shiplap, slatted screen and picket profiles all work within the barrier standard. Self-closing, self-latching custom gates are built to match the fence rather than added as an afterthought.
Other work, such as a timber decks, can be quoted at the same visit.

Frequently asked questions for Fences

Fences are measured and built on site to suit the property. Panels, frames and components are made up first in our Wairau Valley workshop, which shortens the time spent on your property.

Boundary fences are usually paling fences, which suit long runs and keep costs down over distance. Street frontages more often suit shiplap, screen or picket fences, and our shiplap and screen patterns are our own designs.

No. Consents and approvals remain with the property owner, as we don't handle consent-managed work. Once any required approvals are in place, we can measure up and build.

Yes. Call in at 95B Wairau Road, Wairau Valley to look over timber, hardware samples and finished panels. Hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am–4.30pm, with weekends by appointment.

Stainless steel hardware is standard rather than an upgrade on coastal and beachfront sites, because salt air corrodes ordinary fixings. Workmanship and materials comply with New Zealand standards.
